Quantitative EEG (qEEG) is a specialized method of analyzing the raw electroencephalography (EEG) data through numerical and computer processing techniques. It applies mathematical algorithms, to digitized electrical brain activity recorded by multiple electrodes on the scalp to derive quantitative measurements and visual brain maps. These brain maps illustrate functional brain activity in different frequency bands and brain regions, helping in clinical evaluation of brain function. qEEG provides objective, statistical comparisons to normative databases, aiding in the diagnosis and monitoring of neurological and psychiatric conditions, such as ADHD, dementia, and autism. It is also used to track treatment effects like neurofeedback and medication responses.
